Ego my friend

Ego

Ego my old friend, Welcome!
I have lived under your sweet shadow for so long now!
Life is empty - seems empty without you near.
Your many forms and tricks hold me spellbound;
Your many guises make me powerful yet so weak!
You strive so hard dear Ego to hold me safe;
Yet your safety net suffocates me;
My dreams withering under your watchful eye.

Your power is such you can draw blood at the dawn of a mere possibility ... a warning shot across the bows lest I dare step out from under your shade.
Here I sit dazed in time,
wary of the your powerful tools so well honed and sharpened.

Fear leaves me gasping for breath,
Mere thoughts of my own dissent make my skin crawl and my body ache;
Dare I step too far from your clutches seeking solace where you’ve denied me permission;
Calamities untold play repetitively in my invisible theatre of emotions
bedding in inaction as an unwelcome guest.

Guilt – they shyest friend – so ever present;
Walks with me every given step
Weighing heavy on my shoulders;
Setting onto them terrors of souls bygone.
New responsibilities are laid and created each day; burdening me in even the smallest choice.

Hate so sweet in it’s own disguise
Seeks revenge in even the tiniest slice
Presenting itself wherever love seeds a paradise garden
Leaving giant footprints of a yeti unseen
Denying beauty and purity their right to simply be

Resentment the thief of love once shared;
Steals memories of the sweetest flav;
Leaving acrid smells and acid tastes in it’s wake;
Drowning compassion for it’s own sake

LEAVE NOW I command you;
I am battered black and blue
Playing the games that I thought I once knew
With you, Ego, an old friend sent to keep me safe

Where did I gamble away this friendship so great;
To wake one day with an adversary?

I deny you right to own my soul;
And cast out your friends from the very gates they guard
Only love need enter and live here now;
Those shadows of the past remain fond memories of innocents unguided;
Wrapped in silken mists of forgiveness

Release me now Ego from the shadows of your dramas;
Much joy await me where you’ve shown me only pain.
Work awaits me where sweet gardens stand in stillness
To be tended with faith and patience
Laughter awaits where once fear held me back;
So much peace resolves the guilt that never was

Where you once thrilled me with your magic
I now invite in miracles without walls
Miracles of faith and worth beyond dreams that give me strength to hop, skip and sing

Ego my friend of old,
How grey and old you look now!
Where once you wore the shining threads of power
I see only grey shreds of shame

Oh my! You still retain the strength of disguise
A warning to self lest I forget the pain of the past.

Ego my friend I have a heart and love runs through me like an ocean for giving
I give you dignity as your new clothes
You have served me well before I cannot deny
I still love you yet your power is denied

Ego my friend now come and cleanse yourself;
Dress in your new clothes of integrity
Let the world see we have been through the worst and survived
A friendship of old, a battle of our times
Now ended in peace and compassion.

Ego be still
Fear not yourself
The light of love that now shines through me
Has the strength of faith that will carry us both
To lands of dreams where miracles are norm...

Be still my love, my ego,
I have loved you long and faithfully,
Give me your faith now as heavenly love
Guides and guards our flight path
We are safe in stillness
Trust .....
Simply trust
.... lets cherish the NOW we have.

Celebrations and the Law of Attraction

It’s that time of the year again! Plenty to eat, plenty to drink, fabulous outfits to dress up in and lots of friends to catch up with, running around the shops overloaded with bags of shopping doing last minute Christmas shopping (that is if you are a “normal” person like the best of us and not an organised super human, who took the time to get their list together on boxing day 2008 and finished Christmas shopping by the close of the January sales!) and the best bit of course - exchanging gifts!

I love all kinds of celebrations. I find time to celebrate things like managing to fit in my yoga practice (usually celebrate with a yummy bar of chocolate or a far too sweet to he healthy cereal, DOH!) and things like my car passing it’s MOT (another bar of chocolate ooh and of course the obligatory glass of wine).

On a spiritual level, celebration is a wonderful way to give thanks for all the blessings you are given in each moment, and if you understand anything about the Law of Attraction you’ll know that each time you give heartfelt thanks you open the door to more to give thanks for.

Brief lesson on the spiritual Law of Attraction.

The Law of Attraction (from now on known as LOA – too long to type otherwise see J) is another Universal Law, in the same vein as the Law of Gravity (LOG)i.e. if you are anywhere near Earth (the closer the better of course) you cannot help but be affected by the universal LOG which simply states all matter has a mass and a central integrated point of gravity and well, as we all know you can’t float from shop to shop, you have to walk. If you think you can fly while you’re in this human suit, well you got another thing coming especially if in some mad moment you decide to prove that you can fly by launching yourself out of your top bedroom window, you know what’ll happen, you will find yourself splat on the face with the surface of whatever you land on giving you a lovely big Glaswegian kiss just by way of a reminder that “LOG applies here on Earth”!

No one to my knowledge has yet defied the LOG, well other than Superman, Wonder Woman, even Spiderman can fall foul of the LOG. But I digress, what I mean to say is in the same way that you can’t avoid the impact of the LOG, you cannot avoid the LOA.

The LOA states - what you focus on you attract to you. Simple! ... But guess what? We don’t always know what we are focusing on! Our minds are such complex busy computers we may be consciously thinking of the many chores we have to get through today and in the back of our mind we may be worrying about the outcome of the car’s MOT.

Now this is where it gets tricky, if when we are “worrying” about the MOT and our thoughts are along the line of “I can’t face another expensive bill for the car”, but you know there’s that little knocking that happens when I go a little too fast, I’ve been ignoring it for ages but, hmm, I’m sure it’s something serious, that’s why I’ve (subconsciously) avoided taking it to the mechanic (who needs the bad news, huh?)… ooh, it’s bound to fail it’s MOT, but it’s a nice little motor, it’ll be ok, yeah but the brakes don’t feel so strong like they did when I had them replaced ….” and on and on and on we go - worrying!

Your “mind” thinks and an images pops up in response to the thoughts you are having, your body reacts to the images your thoughts are creating with feelings. These feelings send out little radio waves that magnetically (and silently) attract to them more of what they “feel” like. So by feeling bad about the MOT failure you actually attract into your experience your car failing it’s MOT. No FUN!

So we need to get proactive, and that is why I celebrate every little gift, experience and well anything that I feel happy and grateful for even in one small moment.

My philosophy is “By focusing on being thankful and feeling happier about my blessings big and small I guarantee that what I am sending out in radio waves is happiness and things to be grateful for so in accordance with the wonderful LOA I will attract more happy moments”.

When I complete a chore I mentally & visually raise a glass of champagne to the universe and allow myself to feel the excitement of celebration. Cheers! Yep that’s done I am so happy and grateful and now I want more of the sense of completion and peace that comes with getting things done.

The Thanksgiving celebration in America is based on a similar principal, as is the Harvest Festival celebrated in the UK - by giving thanks for all that you are grateful for you are letting God know that you appreciate what you’ve been given. And guess what LOA has not choice but to kick into action and give you more. But beware you cannot be thinking in the back of your mind “I don’t have enough… “ and on the surface be celebrating because if you aint feeling it you aint fooling the LOA!

In our modern times of “lack” where we are constantly focusing on what may be missing – “I’ve not got enough time to get the washing done today, not enough money to get that new school bag, etc”. guess what we are sending out to the universe? The silent radioed prayer that “I don’t have enough of ….” (fill in the blank). Result? More of what you don’t have enough of! This is partly what’s created the financial crisis we are seeing all around the world.

Family & celebrations

When it comes to celebrations with family, for most of us there are so many things to usually organise, that we tend to get more stressed about the occasion rather then allowing ourselves to be present in the moment to really take in all our blessings and enjoy. When you feel stressed you attract more stress!

Christmas is globally known to be a time of family disagreements overwhelming us with stress and more stress with the fear of getting it all perfect on the day. We lose sight in those stressful moments of the things we really love about the people around us and all that we have to be grateful for. We find ourselves snapping at our children, begrudging parents for their attempts at giving us advice, resenting siblings for not inviting our parents over for yet another year, leaving it all to us!

Where does that leave us? Feeling unappreciated, incapable, hurt and guilty for the snapping, the resentment and on and on.

Christmas is a celebration of the birth of one the greatest teachers on Earth. A celebration that, in most of our minds, has lost the joy of the day. His teachings, nurture, heal and support millions around the world to this day over 2000 years after he was born. That is surely something to celebrate.

This year I challenge you to allow yourselves to celebrate the day with the understanding that no matter how long the turkey takes to cook, no matter what nifty gadget your partner has bought you for Christmas instead of that gorgeous perfume you have been hinting about, you will for one day, put aside your focus on what’s not right with the day and really focus on what is RIGHT.

Tell yourself “I give myself permission to laugh more, to get things wrong in the kitchen and the table décor, I will allow my guests to sit where they want to. I will watch that glow in my child’s face when they unwrap that special gift and know that I can still hold my head up high and sing and dance around the mucky kitchen late into the night because I am loving having what I have in my life.” And then stand back and wait for the LOA to do it’s magic.

Remember the LOA does not just work on one day. Christmas day is not it’s only special day it works EVERY SINGLE MOMENT of EVERY SINGLE DAY. So start celebrating every day.

These are old laws that we are all having to re-learn in modern times. Let’s not wait to pass this knowledge onto our children, let’s empower them now with this knowledge so that the next generation will have a deeper understanding of the LOA and bringing more joy and celebration into their lives. Start finding ways to have celebrations with your family every chance you get.

One the simplest celebration “games” I know is what I call the Happy-Meter. At the end of the day on a family chart, placed in full view for all family members to see, a board on a wall, with each day of the week on and the names of each family member to record each day one thing each person was really happy and thankful about on that day. To show how happy this made them, they can add gold stars or similar next to the item. The number of gold stars represents how thankful they were for that item.

Another one of my favourite games to play with the little ones, and you’ll be amazed by how they take to it, is to play a verbal game of “what I love and am thankful for”. It makes meal times go quicker and with so much laughter and sparkles you will be pleasantly surprised at the happy cloud that seems to surround the dinner table.

The idea is to go around the table and each person in turn shares what they really love and are thankful for and keep going round as many times as you can. It can be sharing something as simple as “I love and am thankful that I can sit and have a meal with my family” to “I love and am really, really, hundred times really thankful for my Mater truck” (my nephew’s favourite). You can make it more challenging by adding a bit where each time it comes back to the same person they have to list all the things they mentioned the last time plus one more, it reduces my clan to fits of giggles as everyone tries so hard to outmatch the other and forgets what they said the first time round.

Looking forward to the New Year, nothing focuses the mind on what we want in our lives more then setting goals.

Many personal development teachers and successful people believe that by writing down what you want to bring about in your life and focusing on believing that you have it in your life already as many times in a day as possible, helps bring it about. So getting young ones to sit for 5 minutes and pretend to play with the toy they desire, describing their feelings and what they love about their new toy and so on really focused the energy and desire on that item sending those precious radio waves out to the LOA, here’s another order for you!

One of the many, fun ways of teaching young ones about setting goals that I know of is the Get Buzzy Magical Achievement tree. It helps children learn to determine what they love and would love to have in their lives and also how they want to celebrate their achievements. Check out http://www.getbuzzyeducation.com/Products.html for the get Buzzy Education books and kits created by Joe Estrada.

Wishing you all a fun filled joyful and abundant Christmas.

Life the Universe & everything else.... like relationships

Thu 29 Jan 2009
Life, the Universe & Everything else - like relationships!!!
Life, the universe and everything.
For years now I have been providing psychic reading services to an array of intriguing and intelligent clients. As an independent woman (how I see myself) sometimes I found it really tough to balance the client’s perceived desperation for a full time relationship in their lives, a committed partner whose presence was fixed in their daily lives. Some individuals defined their value based on the lack of relationships others by the “success” of their relationships. That sense of dependency for another is something I could not quite make peace with.
I often sat after such a reading request and wondered what it was that made this need for a partner so intense. I am not claiming to have this answer now but I have recently become aware that I also have the urge to meet a potential partner and for what seems like an eternity it was somehow repressed and covered over with many different causes to follow and actions to take for myself. I am wondering if the scientists were right after all and is this an hormonal urge uncontrollable by us mere mortals in natures desire for procreation? Or on the other hand is it simply human behavioural programming that I have tried so hard to repress for so long?
What had also happened for me very subconsciously was that I set up a physical barrier around me as part of this whole business of not acknowledging my own needs. This physical barrier was a layer of unexpressed emotions and other “gunk” which formed an outer shell.
You may choose not to believe this but, within literally days of admitting that I was hiding from a deep inner need to share my life with “a significant other” my body shape shifted! I found myself two clothes sizes smaller and bouncing with new life. What amazing things happen when you open up to knowing yourself! Lol.
So finally having become aware of my need to connect with a potential soul mate/twin flame, I took the bold step to put myself out on the “available and looking list”. Very tentatively I invited men to connect with me. I must say a big THANK YOU to a great cabbie out there in London, without whose sweet compliments I would not have become aware that I needed to pay attention to my own needs and that it was time to really listen to myself, thank you sweet friend you know who you are and I thank the universe for sending you as a messenger to me.
I love the animated movie KUNG FU PANDA, (those who do not know me will be forgiven for thinking I spend all my time watching movies, lol); there is a comment that is repeated several times by a wise old teacher in the movie – “THERE ARE NO ACCIDENTS!” I truly believe there are none in this life and so I know in my heart that I met this person not by chance but by universal design so that I would then take charge in an area of my life which needed me to take action to fulfil my needs.
I have spent too long denying that a one-to-one relationship was important to me and in that time have created endless stories to convince myself I was doing the right thing for me. For example, I have by the “co-incidence” of birth (being born under the sign of Sagittarius) been designed to crave frequent adventures in travel and movement, finding being in one place too long leaves me feeling stagnant in life and also believing that maintaining a strong long term relationship whilst being a free spirit in need of spontaneous travel would be completely undo-able after all it would be unfair on any potential partner would it not if I was constantly throwing caution to the wind and absconding at a moment’s notice to explore new corners of the earth? Well that is what I convinced myself I believed and in the same self deception what I have also done as a result of this constant need to be on the move is deny myself a degree of stability that any soul needs.
Becoming aware of this paradigm that I had created for myself has been a truly freeing experience. I feel lighter, more comfortable with myself, though I am not out of the woods yet.
I am discovering that the patterns and processes I put into place to ensure that I - at least - believed my own story have been a constant challenge to me in this new journey. I am learning how often I sabotage potential relationships by underplaying my worth and my ability. How I put into play a mere shadow of myself that even I would have difficulty trusting and connecting with genuinely at the flick of an eye is the work of a genius alone! It has once again confirmed to be that we create endless personas within our roles in life to help us maintain self deception in every area of our lives so that we can continue to be reckless with our needs, riding rough shod over the basic necessities of life. How we continue to project onto others our deceptive behaviours simply so we can continue to trick ourselves into living a life of half truths is a stunning drama only a genius can write and rewrite at each juncture to suit our needs for self deception.
This experience has also taught me though that, once you become aware and live in that awareness you will be supported to shed the deceptive dramas in your life by just the right person turning up to push your buttons as your move through life on the travellator of our times! My learning has taught me many things about myself and each time I find myself having to face up to another truth about myself my initial instinct is to lie barefaced to myself and then to find ways to squirm out of the discomfort these lies have created in my life and each time I find myself ready to drop back into the illusion of the old lies some excellent being of divine wisdom pops up right in front of me and says with that Harry Enfield-esk voice “you don’t wanna do thaaaat?”. GOD that get irritating after a while! Lol
(More to follow! –as this new dimension grows)
